Tom The Mail Man combines sedated beats with memorable melodies to establish his unique contemporary sound.

Some artists are great rappers, others are great vocalists. Some have R&B nailed, others are masters of jazz and blues. Finding someone who can do it all, then, is no easy task. That’s why Tom The Mail Man stands out.

If you’re one for stories, he’s got a great one, too: his music career started in junior year of high school when he would record songs at his “friend’s crib”. After landing a show in Atlanta, things began taking off – leading to a fanbase and a slew of great songs.

Armed with a pen, paper and talent, he’s made a name for himself in the years since then. His journey, however, has not been without its challenges. In an interview with Voyage ATL, he said: “Biggest issues for me was transportation and money. I do almost everything by myself and it’s been that way for a long time. My family isn’t super fortunate so, for the most part, any funding for the music is coming from my pockets. However, I am really fortunate to have a group of people who can back me when I really need them and I feel like I’ve only been able to stay afloat because of their help.”

In his recent EP, Sunset Visionary, Vol. 1, the genius of the Atlanta-based rapper is on show for all to see. Sedated beats intertwine with memorable melodies which give his work a Frank Ocean-like quality, all-the-while maintaining the unique sound that makes Tom The Mail Man stand out from his contemporaries.

Switch to his most recent release, “Forever”, and you’ll be met with a more upbeat, modern track in the style of Drake or Tyler, the Creator, before Tom descends into rap verses reminiscent of an early-years J. Cole.

The point being, Tom The Mail Man is an artist well worth spending the time to listen to. His second album, Liephas Evil, is a good place to start. Trust us, you won’t regret it.
