Wash away your lockdown blues with these brilliant shows, movies and documentaries. With so many options, figuring out what to watch on Netflix can be hard – luckily for you, we’re here.
When it comes to the rules on facemasks, lockdown and life in general, no one’s certain on anything. But one thing’s certain – we’re all watching more and more Netflix. In between pretending to work from home and filling in the evening hours usually spent at a nightclub or restaurant, these suggestions should keep you going for at least the next week (we hope).
Here’s what to watch on Netflix this week.
Fear City
This thrilling, but at times terrifying documentary centres around the crimes and activities of five mob families: Gambino; Bonanno; Colombo; Lucchese; Genovese. The first-hand accounts from people at the time allows this documentary to achieve something no mafia movie can; realism.
Space Force
With characteristic wit and dry humour throughout, Steve Carell plays the hilariously stupid but passionate General Naird, who is in charge of running America’s mission to space with— well— idiots. It might not leave you rolling around with laughter, but I’ll produce a good few ‘ha ha’s’ – if you know what we mean?
The Equalizer 2
Denzel, Denzel, Denzel – what can’t this man do? In this action-packed sequel to the first Equalizer, he returns as Robert McCall with two duties: mentoring at-risk youth and avenging the death of his long-time friend who was murdered. In this sequel, Denzel reminds us that Robert McCall is a man of principles, and if you want to live, you really shouldn’t break them.
BlacKkKlansman
Spike Lee’s Oscar-winning masterpiece has – after a long wait – appeared on Netflix. As impressive and funny as it is shocking, this true story details an undercover mission by a black police officer to infiltrate and expose the KKK – what could possibly go wrong?
Gun City
From Money Heist to Elite, Spanish shows on Netflix, for good reason, are very popular; and Gun City is no exception. Set in 1921 Barcelona, it details the fictional story of how a range of factors: Mobsters, corruption and Labour strikes, added to crime, murders a whole range of other issues for law enforcement.
