Basketball’s most stylish name just pulled off MSCHF’S big red boots dividing the internet.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is no stranger to big fits. The 24-year-old NBA doesn’t shy away from the bold and wacky, so it’s of little surprise that he chose to sport MSCHF’s latest creation, the big red boots diving the internet.
Make no mistake, the boots are big (as in, f*cking massive), and they’re very red. Some call it a cartoon prop, others see it as nothing short of the best thing to come out of fashion in a while. The brand itself has a little bit of history: it created the satanic Nike trainers with actual drops of blood, and it gave the world “coke white” sneakers. They’re no strangers to controversy, and they’ll be licking their lips at all the internet fuss over their latest creation.
It’s the brand’s first go at making boots. And as is expected of the American art collective, it’s big, bold, and frankly mad. According to the creators of the boot, shoes just aren’t meant to be “shaped like feet.” “Big Red Boots are really not shaped like feet, but they’re extremely shaped like boots.” Does that technically make any sense? Of course not. We do get them? Absolutely.
And so does Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the basketball player turned international style icon. On his way to a game, the 24-year-old was seen sporting a pair of THE BIG RED boots.
