Words by The Urban Journal

With new choices aplenty on the streaming site, we pick the best things to watch on Netflix this month.

Despite encouraging subscriber news from arch-rivals Disney Plus, Netflix continues to remain as popular as ever with audiences across the globe. From the brilliant Monsieur Diop (played by Omar Sy) in Lupin to the unstoppable Ann Atwater (played by Taraji P. Henson) in The Best of Enemies, there’s plenty by way of movies and TV shows to keep you entertained this March.

Biggie, I Got a Story to Tell

He’s one of hip hop’s most famous names; some can recite his lyrics off by heart, others can re-tell the tale of his infamous beef with Tupac. But few people truly know the story of one of rap’s greatest stars. Netflix itself on a bit of roll with documentaries in recent times, and Biggie’s looks set to become the next in line to capture the attention of millions.

The stories are honest, the experiences – from those who knew him best – riveting. It’s sometimes said that there’s a price to pay for success – and with this documentary, the full extent of Biggie’s life is made clear for all to see.

The Best of Enemies

The true story of an unlikely pairing between Ann Alwater, a civil rights activist, and C.P. Ellis, a member of the Ku Klux Klan, is played out in this two hour drama. In The Best of Enemies, their co-charing of a community summit – and the racially-charged environment in which it took place – takes centre stage.

Pelé

He’s Brazil’s most famous player, he scored a lot of goals, he dazzled fans with the number 10 on his back and his named is forever penned in the history books. You may think you know it all when it comes to Pelé – his story, his talent, and his undeniable love for the game – but, you don’t.

Like with all other great Netflix profile documentaries, there’s a lot to learn about the man behind one of football’s greatest stories.

Lupin

Foreign language dramas continue to be a hit on Netflix in the UK – and Lupin is no different. The plot is inspired by the story of master thief Arsène Lupin – and Omar Sy, who plays Assane Diop, becomes the star of the show. After setting out for revenge following an injustice inflicted on his father, Diop becomes engaged in a daring heist to win it all.

The question is: how far will he go to avenge his father?

Last Chance U

College basketball is no joke, and John Mosley – the head coach of the East Los Angeles College Huskies (ELAC) – wants everyone to know it. It’s an honest, unfiltered look into the world of college basketball: the training, the dreams of troubled young men and the relentless drive of a no-nonsense coach.

Last Chance U is a must-watch this March. Just remember: in coach Mosley’s team, there’s no slouching – not even on the sofa.
